Macquarie Centre [NSW] upgrades an Entrance Icon Digital Landscape Billboard 2024
Dexus Macquarie Centre saw the introduction of a stunning landscape billboard over the Herring Road pedestrian entrance to the centre in 2014.
No mall media existed at this entrance before 2014. The transformation was spectacular with the 6.6mm LED that included high brightness to manage direct sunlight at certain times each day.
Macquarie Centre is situated in the expanding North Ryde district of Sydney, surrounded by a University, medical facilities, office campuses and many residential apartment towers.
The Herring Road entrance to the shopping centre is particularly busy with an endless pedestrian flow from the nearby mixed neighbourhood, underground rail station and adjacent bus interchange.
After a decade of service roll forward now to 2024 and the original display has been replaced, significantly increasing resolution and is lighter and slimmer with a new 4.4mm LED solution by DPS.
The new display is 2.5m high x 6.7m wide (resolution 504 pixels high x 1512 pixels wide – 762,048 pixels)
DPS developed a solution to ensure the physical change over was as simple as possible. Using much of the original back support structure plus a new framework designed with our LED manufacturer the technicians were able to dismantle the original display and install the new display all in 3 nights, with limited access hours to the site. This approach ensured centre operations and shoppers were never compromised.
The result is a stunning aesthetically pleasing upgrade that will provide long, and reliable commercial operation being regularly cleaned and serviced by the DPS maintenance team.
